Test and Fix JS Popup on Wordpress

I have a custom popup that contains a contact form on a WordPress site. The popup appears after 30 seconds if the user tries to navigate away from the page. If the user closes the popup, or submits the contact form, they should not see the popup again for 30 days.
For some people, the popup seems to be working as expected. However, I have noticed the popup being displayed multiple times within the 30 days period, so something is either wrong with the code, or possibly a browser issue?
So the task is simply to check the code and update it so that the popup works as intended.
NOTE: I have marked it as a micro project as I think it is probably a simple fix for somebody with JS experience. However, if that is not the case and it will take longer than expected, the budget can be increased.
